Las Vegas, Nevada – Despite continuing reports about the failing economy, future professionals from Paul Mitchell The School Las Vegas and the nationwide Paul Mitchell beauty school network spent the months of February through April raising over .2 million in their annual charity “FUNraising” campaign. Now in its seventh year, the annual campaign surpassed all previous records and brought the combined total to more than .4 million.

For those of you who have been out and about shopping this year, who’s got the best back to school clothes prices? My daughter is going into the second grade in two weeks and I need to get some clothes shopping done! Thank you in advance.

Id wait til mid Sept, thats when the better deals will kick in. Why buy colder weather clothes now, wait til the weather turns. If anything, get clearance summer clothes. I saw 70% off racks at Kohls, Macys. While Walmart, Old Navy, Target, might have cheaper prices too, you’ll get what you pay for with thngs that shrink and stain easier.

School is officially out for the summer, which means parents all across the country are dreading the next three months. Not sure how you’ll fill the passing days? Take heart! We’ve got ten entertaining and fun ideas appropriate for kids of all ages.
Visit the Local Zoo – Take your time and wander around the zoo looking at all the different types of animals. Have each kid pick out their favorite animal and when you get home, research that animal; find out where they come from, what they eat, how long they eat, etc. You can also have them draw a picture of the animal.
Utilize the Public Library – Most public libraries have a wide array of summer activities for kids, from weekly reading hours to summer reading clubs. Plus, most libraries have air conditioning perfect for those hot summer days and all activities are free for residents!
Visit a Local Farmer’s Market – Not only will the kids have a great time exploring the different booths and foods, it’s a great place to teach your children about healthy eating.
Plan your Summer Vacation – If your children are a little older, have them help plan your summer family vacation. Let them research various points of interest at your destination or activities they would like to do.
Create a Scavenger Hunt – Put together a scavenger hunt for your kids and their friends. It can be as simple as solving riddles and scouring for objects around the house or going on a full-blown scavenger hunt around the town.
Put on a Production – Work on a skit or play with your kids and all the neighbor kids. Give everyone a specific part and plan out the stage and costumes. You can even have rehearsals and at the end of the summer, invite the whole neighborhood to come see the production.

Is Your Child Ready For Preschool

Parents know that children do not always follow the experts when it comes to physical and intellectual development. As the closest observers of their individual child’s temperament and abilities, parents are the best judges on whether a child is ready for an academic preschool program.
An academic preschool program differs from a daycare program in that it focuses on early learning skills, pre-reading readiness and linguistic development. While there is time for free play, preschool is a learning rather than care giving environment. In past times, preschool programs were designed for children who stayed home with a parent. Children attended preschool two or three mornings a week, spending the rest of the time at home. Today, because so many parents work, preschools have been restructured to full-day programs.
However, many children in the two to three year old age group may not be emotionally mature enough for a full-day academic experience. Younger children frequently get tired and upset after too much stimulation and many still need an afternoon nap. In this case, parents should seek a program that offers academic experiences in the morning and play time, naptime and other, less structured, activities for the rest of the day.
At three, the age most children begin preschool, children have developed the ability to speak in short sentences. At this age, adults can understand about three quarters of the words children say. A functional level of verbal ability can help a child more easily navigate preschool as he or she can ask for help, to use the toilet, or whatever else they may need.
Most schools require that children attending preschool be toilet trained. The consistent ability to use the bathroom during the day is an important part of preschool readiness. While teachers are accepting of accidents, they are teachers and not daycare providers and can’t be expected to change

It is a powdered mix that comes in a plastic bag with a paint brush attached.

powdered tempura paints can be ordered from any teacher’s or school supply provider. They are a cheaper alternative to wet tempura paint. That is probably what they are using
