Handmade Beaded Christmas Ornaments

When she passed away, there was? no one to carry on the tradition.? Being crafty helps, but it was frustrating trying to learn how to make those ornaments…it took me forever to get the first bell ornament completed.? There was no one to teach me and I was about to give up after the first three tries, but then I decided that if she could do it at the age of 80, I could do it!? It took me four hours to complete that Christmas ornament. Now I can do one in 35 minutes.? Most of my other ornaments only take about 20 minutes or less to make. But they are something that can be given and will last forever.?
I have added many different designs to my Christmas ornaments collection, but have been unable to reproduce some of her more intricate designs.? Everyone still looks forward to each Christmas season to see what new ornaments I have found.? I try to find new patterns each year, but it is very difficult as not many people use beads to create an ornament.?

If you are looking for different ideas for making your own Christmas ornaments – why not consider the Temari ball. Temari is an old Japanese folk art, that originally started making toys for babies using old kimono threads. Today the art is strong and there are many ways of making and decorating Temari balls. Using Temari ball as handmade Christmas ornaments is an unusual Christmas idea.
What is Temari?
Temari art is based upon an ancient Japanese craft of using old kimono silk to make toys for babies. The old kimonos would be reduced to threads. The threads were used to wrap around a ball made of anything (wood chips, rice, old fabric even paper. The idea is to completely cover the ball first on thick threads then in thinner threads to give you a ball shape with a textured finish. then the work of making the design starts. The design is embroidered onto the ball using traditional methods. Any kind of thread can be used silk colors or gold and silver thread.
Handmade Christmas Ornaments
For a Christmas decoration, a design is worked out first, with a theme of say snowflakes or possibly a flower design could be used with Christmas colors. Then the design is embroidered onto the ball using traditional techniques. The result is an unusual decoration to which a ribbon to hang it and tassels to embellish it can be added. There are many ways to create your own unique Temari Christmas Ornament. Making a new design instantly makes your Christmas ball different, changing the colors on the design gives you another look.
Making your own Christmas decorations can be a pleasure or a chore depending upon your perspective. If you enjoy a challenge and are confident in your craft skills, making a Temari Christmas ornament will give you pleasure as well as provide an interesting Christmas decoration for years to come.?

The Evolution of the Christmas Ornaments

June 2, 2010
Before celebrating the Christmas holiday, we should know the evolution of the Christmas decorations.
It is believed that the Christmas decoration derived from a witch ball to fend off evil spirits. As the glass made ball decorative, so people started to use them decorate their home. As time went on, the original green color was varied. In the later, they were made in different colors and sizes, and even the material started to be varied. Therefore it became fashionable to decorate the home with ornaments for Christmas in Victorian times. So Christmas ornaments started to take a hold in Victorian homes. The symbol of the ornaments was also changed.
From that time on, the range has increased steadily. The decorations have also been hung in different places: the mantle, windows, and front door as well as the Christmas tree. These days people can hang Christmas ornaments as they like. Inside or outside is doesn’t matter.
In the 20th century, it is quite common that hang a new type of Christmas ornament on a tree. The chocolate that covered with a colorful paper wrapping would add a festive decorative effect on the holiday. In recent decades, many other Christmas ornaments have been decorated on the top of the Christmas tree.
Over the last hundred years, Christmas decorations have just got bigger and better, as well as greater variety. Now some areas become well known for their Christmas displays because people take a lot of time to decorate the outside of their homes with giant Christmas ornaments and all kinds of lights
The Christmas ornaments about decorating our own little piece of territory to make Christmas a special occasion will not change no matter what kinds of ornaments will appear in later.
